What are the requirements to get admission into NOUN?

NOUN admission requirements are very simple and straight forward. If you would like to study at NOUN as an Undergraduate? Here are the NOUN official requirements:

1. You must earn at least five (5) credits in topics related to the intended field(s) of study in the WAEC, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB, or equivalents, at no more than two (2) sittings.

2. Applicants should be informed that a Teachers’ Grade II Certificate with at least five merits, or its combination with any of the credentials listed under (1), can result in the equivalent of five “O” level credits.

3. Additionally, we would like to let all applicants know that to be considered for admission to the NOUN School of Law, they must have earned up to five (5) credits in the following subjects: English Language, English Literature, and at least a credit pass in Mathematics at no more than two (2) sittings.

NOUN Admission Requirements into for Direct Entry into 200 LEVEL

i. You should have a national diploma, which should be issued by a Nigerian institution of higher learning.

ii. You can also use a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) with a minimum of one merit and two (2) passes in the subject(s) that are the most pertinent to your planned program of study.

iii. Students who have completed the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) with at least two “A” level examinations in pertinent subjects and the necessary number of “O” level credit passes are also eligible.

NOUN Admission Requirements for Postgraduates

NOUN Admission Requirements For Masters

1: You must possess a first degree in a related field of study from a university that MUST be recognized by NOUN’s Senate. (Nearly all universities certified by the National Universities Commission (NUC) are acknowledged by NOUN.)

2: Additionally to get NOUN admission for maters you mush possess a postgraduate diploma in a comparable discipline from a university that MUST be acknowledged by NOUN Management; this will greatly aid your admission.

3. The school senate will also accept an excellent honors degree in education (in arts, languages, sciences, social sciences, vocational and technical disciplines) from any university that NOUN has acknowledged.

4: The Senate further affirms that HND holders (with a least of Upper Credit) in a related field of study from institutions recognized by the Senate of NOUN are welcome to apply for their Masters in NOUN.

5: Applicants to the Master of Business (MBA) program may be members of pertinent professional organizations. Relevant professional organizations include businesses that are acknowledged or registered in Nigeria.

NOUN Admission Requirements for PhD

1: Candidates seeking doctoral programs in philosophy should be aware that the school’s senate has mandated that all applicants hold a master’s degree in a related field of study from a university that has been approved by the NOUN Senate. Be aware that you must hold a Master’s degree and have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5-point scale, or a minimum score average of not less than 60%.

2. Aspiring applicants should be aware that before receiving an admissions offer to the Ph.D. programs at NOUN, they will be invited to participate in an interactive session with the School of Postgraduate Studies.

3: The NOU.org.ng team also wants to inform and advise all applicants seeking admission to NOUN for Ph.D. programs that they must provide the information specified below:

Aside from sending three referee reports, which must include two from people who are well familiar with the candidate’s academic work, candidates must also send transcripts of their academic records.

The Dean of the School from which admission is being requested should receive the aforementioned necessary materials.

Final Thoughts

Studying with NOUN is a great option for so many people, especially those who already have a degree or experience with traditional classrooms and just wish to further their education.

It is important to know that studying online is not a walk in the park or an easy method of studies as some might think; especially for secondary school leaving students who have no prior experience with a higher institution.
