Are you tired of writing JAMB every year?

Would you like to secure admission into a university of your choice in Nigeria in your desired degree program as soon as possible?

If you’ve asked yourself any of these or similar questions and answered yes to any of them, then this article is designed specifically for you.

Because of the many rigorous procedures involved in writing JAMB every year, from the registration processes to the admissions phase, many people have pondered whether it is possible to avoid all this stress and get instant university admission.

Sometimes many candidates don’t get the required score that would get them into their dream courses. Though, the competition in the JAMB admissions process can be a big deal.

Millions of candidates apply for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) each year, of which, as usual, less than half are admitted at the end of the entire process.

If you don’t want to study in Nigeria, of course, you won’t be writing JAMB for any reason. However, you must take this article very seriously.

If you are tired of writing JAMB every year, this particular article is to show you the best and easiest options you have.

How to gain admission into the university without JAMB

The following are the procedures for obtaining admission that does not involve the use of JAMB results.

1. Pre Degree

Pre Degree is one of the methods to get admission into a university without using JAMB. It is an undergraduate program run by every recognized university in Nigeria.

The pre-degree is also offered in public and private universities in Nigeria. The minimum requirement is just a secondary school result, meaning you are eligible to enroll in the program as long as you have completed secondary school.

You do not need to prepare for JAMB before enrolling in this program. It’s just a session program (about six to eight months long). In the pre-degree program, students are expected to enroll and attend classes for approximately six months (as determined by the institution).

Towards the end of the program, students take exams based on what was taught during the program. Any student who achieves the scores required by the institution will be offered admission to the various courses they have applied for.

If you are interested in applying to a university’s pre-degree program, you must visit the school’s website to review the requirements, the cost of the form, and how to apply to the program.

2. Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB)

This is another platform where you can get into the university without sitting for JAMB.

The Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) is a program nationally approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It collaborates with universities in Nigeria and is led by the University of Lagos.

Many Nigerian universities have branches of the JUPEB program. The board admits students to universities based on its criteria. These students are those who have attended the one-year JUPEB program or diploma program.

Various universities usually announce the sale of their JUPEB program forms every year. Students who have applied to the one-year program participate fully in the program and are admitted to the second year (Level 200) after their examination.

As a JUPEB student, you must ensure that you get a passing grade for the department you applied to.

The benefit of this program is that you must be admitted to study at the university as long as you have met the general cut-off mark to do so, although you may not be considered for admission to your preferred course if your score is below the cut-off mark of the department you applied for.

If you want to enter university via the direct entry method, this program is the best option for you if you have not completed a university degree before.

3. IJMB

You must have heard of IJMB before. Some consider it a scam while most don’t understand how the program works.

Well, IJMB is an acronym for Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It is a program overseen by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It was designed to provide an alternative way of securing admission for students who are unable to secure admission through JAMB.

The program is not new, it has been around since 1975 and is accepted by almost 90% of all universities in Nigeria.

IJMB is like 100 Level. It lasts 6 to 9 months. During this time, you will be guided through the 100-level core syllabus (and part of the 200-level syllabus) as set out in the IJMB syllabus. You then take the IJMB exam.

You can use your IJMB result to apply to any university in Nigeria via Direct Entry (DE) and you will be offered admission into 200 Level. The good thing is that getting started directly through IJMB is easier because it’s less competitive.

Other options for you to gain admission if you’re tired of writing JAMB every year

4. DIPLOMA

The Diploma is another way to ensure admission without JAMB. The diploma course lasts one year. After the program, you will receive admission at level 200 via direct entry at the same university.

This differs from IJMB or JUPEB as you can only apply to the university where you completed the program with your diploma certificate. Unlike IJMB or JUPEB where you can complete your program and gain admission into the university.

5. NOUN

Since its inception in 2002, the National Open University (NOUN) has easily accepted applicants without a JAMB. The university accepts students who may have jobs or students who are of legal age. Especially students who are tired of writing JAMB repeatedly.

Admission to NOUN does not require you to go through the stress of preparing for JAMB and passing with excellence in all your subjects. nope! NOUN will never ask you for your JAMB score or JAMB certificate. It only requires a minimum of five (5) O’Level credits in no more than two (2) sessions.

However, if you want to go to the NYSC, you must sign up for JAMB regularization.

6. Private Universities

Yes! You may be eligible for admission to several private universities with or without JAMB. Just a handful of the universities are Babcock University, Madonna University, Crawford University, Bingham University, Caritas University, Bowen University, and so on.

Also, most private universities offer admission to students who score between 120 and 180 points. The only reason this option is not popular with students is the fees that private universities charge.

7. Study abroad

If a candidate decides to attend a university outside of Nigeria, it is certain that they would not need to write the JAMB exam. Making sure you meet all the standards is all you need to do.

You can choose to study on campus in Benin Republic or go for an online study program.

If you meet all the requirements, you are sure to get admission into a university of your choice outside the country, Nigeria as soon as you apply. There is a special benefit for all candidates wishing to study abroad.

This candidate can be considered for scholarships and other academic aid from the country/university to which they applied.
