UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA NSUKKA (UNN)- Everything you need to know about UNN

One of the most popular universities in the southern part of Nigeria and one of the oldest universities in the country, the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) is a dream tertiary institution for many Nigerian youths.

The University of Nigeria Nsukka, popularly known as UNN was established in 1955, sits on 871 hectares of land, lies 80 kilometres from Enugu, and currently boasts of staff strength of about 1,500.

The school is home to many campuses, many of which are still existing in cities such as Enugu and Aba, while others have been upgraded to full-fledged universities such as University of Calabar, which was a campus of UNN till 1977.

Resumption date  

According to reports, new students of UNN are expected to be in the school on/or before the 24th of October 2024.

Admission requirements

There are certain requirements that must be satisfied before a candidate can stand a chance of getting a place in this highly competitive university, and we have compiled them for you. Check below:

For UTME candidates:

  • Candidates must have at least, 5 (five) Credit grade in five subjects (English and Mathematics inclusive) in their O’level result(s). In this case, the O’level result could be WAEC/NECO/GCE or any other equivalent result.
  • Candidates must make the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) their first choice of institution during JAMB registration. UNN does not accept second-choice candidates for admission.
  • Candidates must be 16 years of age at the time admission is offered.
  • Candidates are required to score at least, 160 in JAMB UTME examination as that will make them eligible to take UNN post-UTME examination.
  • Candidates must participate in UNN post-UTME examination and must perform very well in the examination in order to be admitted.

For Direct Entry candidates:

  • For Direct Entry admission, candidates must possess two passes at the IJMB Advanced Level Examination, Cambridge moderated Schools of Basic Studies Terminal Examination, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate from recognized institutions with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalent in three other subjects.
  • Direct entry candidates who wish to gain admission into the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) must purchase the university’s DE form through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
  • Direct entry candidates are also expected to make the University of Nigeria, Nsukka their first choice of institution during registration. This is a very important requirement because UNN does not consider second-choice candidates for admission.

School fees

Currently, the school fees for UNN is ₦61,340 for the new students, while the and old students are to pay ₦45,340. How cheap is that?
